Unlimited Squirrels by Mo Willems

We are big fans of Mo Willems, and were super excited to get to read his newest book, Unlimited Squirrels: I Lost My Tooth!  True to his style, we all giggled as we read about cute little Zoom Squirrel losing a tooth, while all of his many squirrel friends worried about the lost tooth and what happened.

My oldest, Vivi, has lost quite a few teeth, but Brigie has her very first wiggly tooth that should be making its exit any day now, so she found the book especially appropriate and hilarious.  It's a great book for younger and older readers, with its fun to read format, and the extra pages of funny jokes and tooth facts, which Vivi especially enjoyed.

To go along with the book, Brigie and I made a small little pillow for her to put her tooth into for the tooth fairy.  She loved the project, and it turned out really cute!

To get started, here is what you need:

Squares of felt (one white, one black or gray, and two in the color of your choice) | Googly Eyes | Glue gun and glue sticks | Scissors | Pipe Cleaner | Small amount of stuffing

First, trim your colored squares down a little if needed (if you get the 4" x 4" squares, those should be perfect).  Hot glue two sides (I do this for Brigette), let glue dry, and then fill with a little stuffing, and hot glue the other two sides.

Secondly, cut the white felt into a tooth shape.

Next, glue the tooth onto the pillow.  Just put the glue around the bottom half, so the top is open, like a pocket.  Then glue on the eyes, and cut out a small mouth and eyelashes, if you want.  We made a little pink bow out of the pipe cleaner, and glued it to the top of the tooth.

Didn't it turn out so cute? The hot glue makes it really easy if you aren't into sewing.  Brigie is thrilled with it, and has been sleeping with it by her bed, waiting for her little tooth to come out!

Like all of Willems' books, you laugh and you learn something.  It's so easy to connect with the emotions of his characters, and I can't recommend this book enough!  Thank you so much to Disney Book Group for sponsoring this post!
